Earlier this week news spread that Nipsey’s sister Samantha Smith was seeking to be appointed the guardian of her niece and Nipsey’s daughter, Emani Ashgedom. However, this request was denied by the judge.
When she filed the request she said she had,“always been a presence in Emani’s life and along with the rest of Emani’s paternal family has assisted in her care.” Smith seeks guardianship “to ensure that she can continue to live with family members with whom she has always had close ties.”
Smith did not notify her nieces mother, Tanisha Ashgedom, about the petition and also did not provide adequate reasoning as to why she filed the request which is why it was denied. Although, in filing for custody, Smith specifically said that she did not want to inform her niece’s mother of her request.
The ruling stated, “No urgency demonstrated for granting this relief prior to hearing on May 14th.” The judge also added that Emani’s mother, Tanisha, must be given notice of the hearing.
The video is below.
The Blast obtained a custody order between the parents from 2013, which states that the parents both had legal and physical custody of Emani. These documents say that Nipsey had weekends and Tanisha had her during the week but Samantha’s documents suggest that prior to Nipsey’s death that Emani was living primarily with her father.
The Blast was told that Nipsey’s family does not think that Tanisha is able to provide a stable environment for Emani. The blast also said “As for why Smith may be going behind Tanisha’s back … it’s possible Smith and Nipsey’s family believe Emani may be in danger if the news gets out about the petition and possible change in routine.”
“Another reason could have to do with money. If Tanisha were to get full custody of her daughter she would be in a position to collect child support from his estate, which could end up being a lofty amount following the surge in music and merchandise sales since the hip-hop star’s death.” according to the Blast.
Tanisha has yet to file an opposition to the guardianship filing but she has been posting her daughter on her Instagram showing that she’s active in Emani’s life including a photo with her daughter and Dawit Asghedom, Nipsey’s father. However, Dawit gave Samantha his blessing in the paperwork to be Emani’s legal guardian.
Regardless of this, “Under California law, a mother or father has a fundamental right to be their child’s parent, with all the implied rights and responsibilities for care and custody. While this right is not absolute, Foster would only lose her parental rights to a guardian under special circumstances.” according to Mercury News.
So for Smith to receive guardianship, Emani’s mother would have to agree to Smith being the guardian or Tanisha would have to be proven as an unfit mother.

[VIDEO] Bobby Brown Is NOT Happy With Chris Rock’s ‘Tasteless’ Whitney Houston Joke
Chris Rock recently shared a meme about Whitney Houston with a caption saying, “Me sitting in a meeting that could’ve been an email.” He took it too far when he added to the meme, “Hurry up I got crack to smoke.”
You can see it here:
Now ex-husband, Bobby Brown wants to fight the comedian.
Houston passed away in 2012 when she drowned accidentally in a bathtub in Los Angeles from a mixture of heart disease and cocaine. Brown and Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, died in a similar way 3 years after her mother’s death.
Brown furiously wrote, “When I see you on site I am going to smack every tooth out of your mouth. I thought you was a friend to my family but when I see you I’m a bust your a**.”
He continued by saying, “During this time of women empowerment you chose your time to humiliate our QUEEN.”
Chris Rock has not responded to Brown publicly but he did take down the post. This did not stop from people calling Rock out on how disrespectful and distasteful the tweet was.
TV producer Elgin Charles even spoke out tweeting, “I was already disappointed in Chris Rock (who I’ve known for years) for finding humor in Louis C.K. & Ricky Gervais’ use of the N-word. Now he’s making fun of my dearly departed friend, Whitney Houston, on IG. Addiction is NOT a laughing matter,”

50 Cent and Jill Scott Bond In A Flirty Yet Weird Way On Instagram
50 cent is notorious for his social media posts which are sometimes funny and other times he is doing too much. From celebrity beef to his opinions on pop culture, the rapper always has something to say. Lately along with the usual stuff he has been expressing his love for singer Jill Scott.
For starters, as we know, Jill Scott is legendary on the microphone. Her earthy and soulful vibes have been on our chill playlists for years. Her effect with these songs came to life in November when Jill Scott performed and got very sensual with her microphone. Videos from this went viral on the internet as everyone got to see what Jill Scott was working with.
Now a few weeks ago, 50 cent vented on Instagram about how he needs to get back in the gym. The rapper’s post said “I’m fat, but I identify as skinny. I’m trans-slender.” Jill saw this post and commented “Ugh, fine to the gym it is,” she continues “@50cent , appearing mean af with the audacity to be inspirational.”
50 cents reaction to this was very 50 cent of him and decided this was his moment to shoot his shot with the “Golden” singer. He responded to her comment by saying, “I love you, Jill we been in a full blown relationship since you did that to that mic,” in reference to the steamy viral video. Scott then responded, “@50cent ohhh it’s been longer than that.”
And it doesn’t stop there! This weekend Scott posted on her instagram a picture with security and a pro-gun caption saying, “Women wanna feel and be safe. Sometimes you can just go where safety/security is. Unfortunately, other times, you must focus on center mass until the clip is empty. #metaphorbutnotreally ALSO I hate when the chick, in the movie, gets a chance to stop her assailant once and for all but only knocks him out and runs.”
This post seemed to trigger 50 cent. Here, 50 went in for another shot commenting, “Ok now Jill I think I’m in Love wit you. You are low key as a ****** ****** hun?”. Scott then responds, “More than a lil bit in this crazy society but @50cent nobody has a bigger earned tick than you. Shaka Zulu.” Their exchange shocked the internet once more but it continued!
Following 50 and Scott’s exchange, Erykah Badu, another soul singer then commented on Jill Scott’s picture saying “UN Safe” where 50 decided to keep going. The rapper then comments “oh no what are you doing here? This must be the danger zone. Your sh** so good ****** don’t even know where they are at after they **** wit you.” However unlike Scott, Badu did not respond to 50.
The internet seemed to love Scotts and 50’s interaction as they received comments like “actually a good match, just please allow me to cater the wedding I promise to sprinkle my 22yrs of matrimonial blessings all in da potato salad.” and “@50cent I think she can handle your mouth, you need a strong woman like @missjillscott.”
