My Philosophy On Relationships

I’ve never labeled myself as a relationship expert or guru. I think of myself as more of a conversationalist and a host. There’s nothing I enjoy more than engaging people to get their perspective. As the author of eight books on relationships, a former host the most successful afternoon urban radio show in history, and as a world traveler I’m still learning new things every day!

And the most valuable lessons that I’ve learned about relationships during my career is you must be adaptable, customize your relationships, and most importantly, be transparent.
And that journey to transparency begins with being honest with yourself and your partners about who you are, what you want, and what effort you’re willing to put into obtaining it.
It sounds simple, right? But honesty isn’t transparency. As I wrote in my book, honesty is answering a question truthfully whereas transparency is volunteering the truth, no matter how uncomfortable—even it causes the other person to leave you.

But self-honesty is harder to practice then you think. Most people have been condition to go along with what is expected of them, especially women. Instead of searching for their true selves they mimic, play a cultural or religious role, and they lie—to others as well as to themselves.

I know because I use to be one of those people, until I embrace transparency and created a different and better life! Now I want to share my experience and help you live a more transparent life. Or as the saying goes, “Live Your Best Life!”
