Senseless! Security Guard Shot & Killed After Telling Customer To Put On Mask
A security guard at a Family Dollar was shot and killed after telling a customer to wear a face mask, according to police.
Calvin Munerlyn, 43, died at a local Flint, Michigan hospital after he was shot in the head Friday.
Michigan State Police Lt. David Kaiser told CNN that the shooter and accomplice have yet to be apprehended.
The state of Michigan has a state-wide order that all retail employees and customers must wear a mask.
A customer tried to enter the store without the mask and that’s when Munerlyn denied access. Video footage shows the security guard and customer getting into a verbal altercation.
Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton said 20 minutes later, two men entered the store and yelled at Munerlyn for disrespecting his wife and shot him.
“This is senseless. Over a mask. Over a mask?” Munerlyn’s cousin, Tina James, told CNN affiliate WJRT. “This is not the way to do things right now. We need to come together.”
Just days ago President Trump tweeted “Liberate Michigan!” and citizens of the state stormed government buildings demanding that the state reopen.
Munerlyn leaves behind eight kids and a wife.
