If You Want Your Relationship To Work, Don’t Force It!
I’ve yet to hear a story of a couple who ended up having an amazing relationship where they had to force being available or compatible. I’m not saying that getting to know someone is always easy, but it should never be forced! Compatible means being similar in what you value, having lifestyles that match, and wanting the same things.
It took me some years to understand the true value of friendship in a relationship. People emphasize friendship all the time but you truly don’t understand the application until you’re actually in a relationship with a compatible person. And you certainly understand how critical it is when you’re in a relationship with someone you’re not compatible with.
Being friends says we have a lot in common, we share the same values, and we genuinely like each other and enjoy each other’s company. When you have those elements in a relationship it’s never forced.
Now here’s an example of when everything feels forced! Your partner is sporadic in their communication. They‘re not transparent about how they feel. They are inconsistent about what they want and pretty much everything else. That’s not a sign of a relationship that’s new that’s a sign of a relationship that’s headed for disaster!
Everyone has a story about meeting someone they may not have been initially attracted to and ultimately they ended up falling in love. But no one has a story about a relationship that was forced in the beginning and it turned out wonderful!
Don’t be afraid to heighten your awareness and to act on your instincts. Trust me when I tell you when a truly compatible person comes along, and more importantly, when the relationship is healthy, it will flow organically. Or as the old school expression goes, you’ll click! Always insist on clicking and consistency!
