Oprah hilariously tells fans why she made Stedman self-quarantine in their guesthouse
On Monday, Oprah went on Instagram live to share how she was adjusting to social distancing. Fans were hilariously surprised when the media mogul revealed that she was making her long-time partner Stedman Graham self-quarantine.
“He’s at the guesthouse,” she shared. “Because you all know I had pneumonia late last year…I had just gotten off of antibiotics last week, because I had a bronchial infection.”
Winfrey said Graham didn’t arrive home until Thursday, just as the concern for Covid-19 was seriously starting to rise.
Winfrey says when he asked what the procedure was for coming up, she quickly answered, “The procedure is…you ain’t coming and sleeping in my bed!”
Winfrey told her viewers Graham was one of the people who were not taking the outbreak seriously, but that was no excuse!
“Social distancing does not mean you go and sleep in the same bed with the person! When you just got off American Airlines!'” Winfrey laughed.
With her immune system compromised and the novel coronavirus, Winfrey didn’t want to take any chances. From the conversation, we learned Graham doesn’t have the virus but they’re taking extra precautions.
” My friends say ‘Oh, isn’t Stedman upset?’ He’s really not. He’s happy to keep me safe,” Winfrey said on Instagram.
While many of us are catching cabin fever, Winfrey revealed that she’s enjoying this guilt-free quiet time.
“This is more time to be with myself without the guilt. Usually it’s like, you’re with yourself but everybody wants to be someplace else. But there’s nowhere to be!”
She also shared some Oprah-level wisdom about the lessons we can learn from this moment of pause and social isolation – telling us that this is more than just a virus. It is a purposeful moment of pause.
“Whatever it is you’re feeling, it’s because you’re supposed to be feeling it. Whatever this is putting you through, you needed this moment, and it was the only moment that could bring us to this realization. I’m looking at it from the bigger picture.”
Winfrey was also recently in the news after attending the party hosted by D-Nice. Followers named the global gathering “Club Quarantine” which started on March 18. The popularity quickly grew, gaining the attention of First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, John Legend and more.
Gayle King interviewed D-Nice on CBS This Morning where they discussed the idea for the virtual party and what it feels like to have over 160k people tuning into his set.
“I’m thinking wow, this is equivalent to two stadiums of people just listening to music.”
Since its inception, the virtual club has also welcomed party-goers Common, Gabrielle Union, Dave Chappelle and other notable influencers.
