I think that if you are in a committed devoted relationship then putting your career on hold after graduating from college is fine. Wile you are raising your family you can take online courses to stay tuned in your career aspirations.

i put my career on hold to raise my son for two years and I dont regret that break. I thank God that my ex was willing to carry the load for two years. After that I was speed head to be all that I wanted to be around my son's scheduled activities.

Some people hide pain behind work or " I'm busy". Experienced it.

Well if you have already established a successful career before you got into a relationship then yes. But if not, both parties in the relationship should respect the fact that your career is important and your career is what helps you both live and maintain a good relationship with one another. So as long as it doesn’t put a damper in the relationship then balance them both out.
