Does your child date geeks! How Important is intelligence on a scale from 1 to 10?
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary a geek is defined as:
Function: noun
1 : a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked (TRANSLATION: SOMEONE SMART)2: an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity <computer geek> (TRANSLATION: EMPLOYABLE)
When did being smart stop being a positive attribute...especially when your child is involved?
How important is it that your child date a SMART man or woman?
On a scale of 1 to 10 how important is intelligence in your child's dating process?
On a scale of 1 to 10 how often do you encourage your daughter/son to look at someones heart and mind versus physical appeal?

The real questions is: What qualifies as a geek?
In HS I was on both JV and Varsity Football but I was focused on my interests and my grades. Me and one other player, to this day I'm still friends with, were cut the same way among all the other players. For a little while the hoodrats swarmed, but after they realize I wasn't going for the cheese they left me alone. My athletic career was great, so was my academic career, I graduated with honors after taking all Advanced Placement classes.
Instead of talking about last Saturday's party and turning out some chick I was talking to my friends about architecture and quantum physics. Was I "physically" there? I think so: In high school I was 6'2" 200lbs, and CUT. Now I'm 6'5" 190lbs, and muscular but not cut like I used to be. Anyway, I am attractive too... don't have a problem connected with women (it doesn't hurt that I'm half Dominican).
So is a "geek" somebody who doesn't fall into the social traps that typify high school culture? Or is a geek a guy who doesn't chase--or get chased by--the hot chicks at school? Or is a geek simply someone who is not at or near the top of the social pecking order?
I don't know. But if these moms would take a few minutes to pass some pearls of wisdom to their daughters the young ladies out there might get into the habit of making smarter choices about relationships much earlier in life, and avoid a lot of the unnecessary pain they might fave otherwise.

I rather my 2 sons marry a Geek any day.
Their Mom is a geek; this Sept 2010 will make us 17 years married,
I was an under cover Geek living in the Hood, ( did not want the fellas & ladies 2 know I was into (books like: John of Arc , Shakespear, paintings; music other than rap and much more.) . .
I guess my intrest and her intrest kept our relationship alive. We challenge each other mentally.

I would prefer my child date geeks because when you run into the class geek at the reunion their usually the ones that have gone onto accomplish the most.
