Doctors say marrow transplant may have cured AIDS By PATRICK McGROARTY, Associated Press Writer

BERLIN - An American man who suffered from AIDS appears to have been cured of the disease 20 months after receiving a targeted bone marrow transplant normally used to fight leukemia, his doctors said.

Regulators nix credit card debt forgiveness plan

WASHINGTON – Federal bank regulators have rejected a request by banks and consumer advocates for a program to let lenders forgive huge portions of credit card debt.



The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency rejected the request for a special program that would allow as much as 40 percent of credit card debt to be forgiven for consumers who don't qualify for existing repayment plans.

Texas gun stores reported a huge surge in sales following the presidential election. "It's incredible," said DeWayne Irwin, president of Cheaper Than Dirt, a Fort Worth gun shop. Obama's grandmother dies a day before election

HONOLULU – A day before the presidential election, Barack Obama announced the death Monday of his grandmother, who helped raise him and who he praised as the cornerstone of his family. In the hours before Election Day, as inevitable as winter, comes an onslaught of dirty tricks — confusing e-mails, disturbing phone calls and insinuating fliers left on doorsteps during the night.
