Last night as I stood in a supermarket checkout aisle I saw that on a magazine rack lay a tabloid with a large cover photo of a dead entertainer in her coffin, underneath a headline that read, "Whitney: The Last Photo!"

I wondered whether the person in charge of stacking magazine racks gave thought to placement. All the other magazines on the rack featured celebrities, models and athletes…
