Share 'Old School trying to meet New School...'

Greetings Terrence, Hi group, I am originally from Chicago, grew up steppin' free style to the beats, I am in NC, and am finding that stepping has become rudimentarily structured. I want to learn this way of stepping, but it is uncomfortable to count my steps and whatnot. Can someone give me some advise on how to make the transition?
