Let's stop fooling ourselves, I started this group in hopes that we could share some ideas and help each other develop better ways to succeed in MLM and Network Marketing. So far is has only provided a platform for people to post and pitch their MLM businesses (present company included) and quite frankly I don't think anyone is really listening. I don't know about you but since posting by opportunities on this site, I have not received even one inquiry about the business or opportunity other than someone trying to get me to join their opportunity; that in my opinion makes it a colossal waste of time and for good reason because it was never designed for that purpose. I don't know what can be done at this point to turn it around but from this point on I will delete any posts pitching a business or opportunity. you may post your website addresses and links but no videos, images or text describing your business or opportunity. .

Let's talk. I can't begin to tell you how many books, tapes and video's I've read, listened to and seen slamming MLM and Network Marketing. I learned early on in life that there is a major conspiracy to keep the masses of people poor and dependent and that goes double for African-Americans. Let's look at our history. We don't own anything significant as a race and that is due to (other than the obvious racism that exists) the brainwashing we've gotten from watching television and listening to our broke friends and relatives. We have been bombarded with negative ads and information telling us about the evils of "get rich scemes", pyramid scemes and the like. We have been brainwashed and manipulated since the beginning of time that having a lot of money is the "root of all evil", and we've bought into it hook line and sinker. Now having said that, let's look at a few other things. The name of this group is " Why you will never succeed at MLM and Network Marketing". MLM and Networking marketing is the perfect industry for most African-Americans (except those that pursue the specialized fieilds like, surgeons, engineers and the like). Here's why. As a race of people we don't have any money, we can't afford to go to college, or we have no desire to. When we do go and graduate we can't find a job or end up working in a totally unrelated field. Consider this: Best case senario. We go to college for four years or more, get a degree and go to work for 40-60K a year. We have student loans to pay back to the tune of 40K+ a year. Our credit is F....ked up because we got a credit card as soon as we got on campus and couldn't manage the $500 limit. I have been in some form of MLM or Network Marketing for over 20 years and I've never invested more than $1K to get started in any of them. I got in because they told me I could make anywhere from 5K to 50K a month if I did what was required. Although the opportunity was clearly there, I didn't make it because I didn't do what was required because I suffered from what most of us suffer from that fail in the industry. I didn't completely learn what the business was all about. I didn't take the time to research my market and the product, I didn't know what the competition was doing and what I could do better, I didn't put together any type of marketing strategy to market the product; although the last word in both, ML and Network, is Marketing. I didn't understand the compensation plan and as a result I didn't know how I could maximize the plan to maximize my commissions and lastly, I only spent 3-4 hours a day working the business. Now let's look at the flip side. What if I spent the same amount of time studying my MLM or Network Marketing opportunity as I did in college. Let's say I put half as much money into marketing my MLM opportunity as I paid for college. The thing that most of us don't understand is that "business is business", and the principles of business have been laid out since the beginning of time and they haven't changed; just modified to fit the particular situation. It takes money to make money and if you don't have money, you had better have a lot of time to put in to it. Don't get it twisted, you're aren't going to make 5K to 50K a month just because you get into a program and spend 3-4 hours a day working it and signing up 2-3 of your friends or relatives. .

I feel that every young person should make network marketing their first career. What other industry teaches you so many disciplines? Finance,public speaking,mentorship,sales,networking, marketing, just to name a few. Yes,there have been companies in the past that have abused this industry and hurt its image by using illegal pyramids, but if you take a REAL look into this industry and have a real product to market, you will never work want to do anything else. KimSyne I hope that you are still around. I fully understand what you are saying. I sincerely hope that what I am posting will not be considered spam. I joined this group with the hopes that maybe we could solve some of the misconceptions about MLM/Network Marketing. I am disappointed because this group has so much potential, yet we choose to advertise and spam each other when we should be trying to share information and see what we can do to help each other. After all, that is what MLM/Network marketing is all about.

This sounds like it could be an interesting group. I think MLM is the answer to reparations, bailouts and just a way of leveling the field for all people. I look forward to networking with this group.

Hi Wiseblkcat. I am one of those probably rare people who absolutely LOVE mlm. I can't think of anything else I would rather be doing. Thanks for starting this group.
