Tonight I was watching one of those entertainment news shows when my jaw almost hit the ground. They showed BBW's auditioning for a new FOX reality show called More To Love about BBW's looking for love.
This surprised me because I wrote a treatment for a BBW dating reality show almost two years ago and filed it with The Writers Guild Of America. Someone I met in the BBW promotional loop was supposed to help me shop it to FOX in Virginia but somehow it just didn't happen. I know what you may be thinking, they stole my show - right? Well maybe not. We'll see. The basic concept isn't original although I will be watching to make sure they didn't copy my idea.
One thing that is definitely different is the paring. They are ONLY looking for BHM's to pair with these women. They used the example of actor Kevin James. I personally take offense to that. What they are saying is the only person who will want a BBW is a BHM and vice versa. That is truly some frackle-nackle bullition of the 1st order! Why can't they open it to any man who loves BBW's (which is what I suggested) and have a separate show for BHM's to find love the same way! Probably 85-90% of the men who approach me are not BHM's and many are very, very built, athletic looking brothas. Likewise while I was in college a friend of mine who was no bigger than a blade of grass had a boyfriend who was a good 400 pounds and she was madly in love with him!
I guess we should be happy that we are getting a show at all but I am tired of being sold an unrealistic picture. I also dare them to find larger BBW's than the size 14-22 women that they featured on the entertainment show. I know Lane Bryant was hosting the auditions so they may have been going by the sizes that store carries but why not pull a size 28 woman and put her in front of the camera instead of the safer sized BBW's.
