Mingle City

Hello, my husband and I are foster parents in Mobile, Alabama.  We foster a 16 year old girl and a 12 year old girl.  Their older sister (19 with a baby) lived with us until the State social worker became very jealous of our relationship.  The social worker said that she has never heard this girl call anybody "mama!"  The social worker moved her out of our home and placed her in a group home for young expecting mothers and young mothers that have nowhere to go.  This child clearly has somewhere to go!!!  My husband and I want to adopt these girls and get them out of the system.  The social worker say's that she wants our 19 year old to stay in the group home to learn a lesson, but we are welcome to adopt the other two.

These girls have been moved from home to home and been in foster care for 9 years!!!!!!!!!

Since the girls have been with us they have gone from Special ed to Honor roll.  They are active in ROTC, cheerleading, serving on boards, etc.

We want to adopt 3 black teengers (1 with a baby) and get them out of the system.  THE SOCIAL WORKER IS THROWING ROAD BLOCKS IN OUR WAY!!!  She refuses this request!

PLEASE GET THIS MESSAGE TO MICHAEL AND GEORGE BECAUSE THEY WILL BE IN MY TOWN TOMORROW TO DISCUSS THE MENTORING PROGRAM.

Many times when we are trying to help our children we have barriers such as this and the statistics make it seem as if we don't care about our own...this is not true!

HELP!!!

Will be praying for you. I know social workers that can throw road blocks and at the end of the day you have to pray and allow God to shut them down.
Thank you so much Mrs. Brown for your uplifting response. Since I wrote this, we've had an ISP meeting and I don't have that social worker anymore. The plan is now for my husband and I to adopt the girls. I prayed to God that nothing would happen to this social worker, but I also prayed for the lord to move her out of our path. That happened the very next day!!!

Thank you sooooooo much for caring. Love you my sister!
Hi Keesha,

I am happy to hear that things are working in your favor now. I am a Social Worker in the state of Florida and the main goal and mission is to make sure the children are cared for. I don't understand why a Social Worker would remove a happy teen from a loving family....That Crazy...Especially since teenagers are the HARDEST to place. I have the utmost respect for foster parents and those who adopt teenagers. My parents have been foster parents for 11 years and they have had so many children in ad out of their home. But they always come back to say THANK YOU! I would like to say Thank you, to you, on behalf of Social Workers all around. What you and your husband do is a calling and everyone is not capable. BE BLESSED and goo luck on the adoption
I am a retired social worker and this is not uncommon for a caseworker to take ownership of a family. First of all, the nineteen year old is an adult and can begin to make the moves to gain control of her life. At age 19, she is no longer a ward of the state. Don't let these people intimidate you. We actually do have rights. My heart goes out to you and your husband because I can tell you care. Keep fighting for those girls. I would be happy to help in any way that I can.

Hope to hear from you soon.
