Hum. That's an excellent question. I remembering looking it up before in a Bible dictionary. I have to research it aagain and see what is says. Sometimes we say things because we heard others say it.
Melanie, true..we tend to say things, especially in church, because we hear others say it. There is a real true meaning to this word which I will definitely share "IF" I can get some feedback and input from other members. Either way..there will be an explanation posted today.
Truly David says I will sing praises and dance unto the Lord. And if we give him the highest praise, then he, the LORD OF LORD and KING OF KINGS is worthy to be praise. Without GOD we are like a ship without a sail.so why not give him the praise and watch our ship sail around the world. AND when we face the rough seas.' he will say peace be still'' JEHOVAH JIRAH,FATHER OF ABRAHAM,ISSAC,JACOB . As you rely he deserved the highest praise,. I thank GOD FOR MZJUBILEEfor enlightening us with the correct definition and pronunciation.. hal-le-lu-jah ameeeeeeeeeeeen
Main Entry: 1hal·le·lu·jah
Pronunciation: \ˌha-lə-ˈlü-yə\
Function: interjection
Etymology: Hebrew hallĕlūyāh praise (ye) the Lord
Date: 14th century
used to express praise, joy, or thanks
This Is the highest praise offering from our mouths. This comes from way down In the spirit.
Here's what i think...It means everything, it's thank you, i love you, i appreciate you and so much more. Many things in the word of God is affected by one simple word. Here's a word that can be used as praise and concurence, and simply put...praise Him.

Glory be to God!
"Hallelujah" IS the highest form of Praise.

This "expression" IS from the most high and reminds us of WHY we were created: TO PRAISE HIM! This is a Universal phrase and it means the same in EVERY nation.

The word is comprised of three words: Halal..meaning "praise" (notice no "e's") Lu meaning "you" and "Yah" ...YHWH...Yahweh..God's name..the name most people consider to be disrespectful to use, when in actuality, God desires this "intimacy" with us (his children).

When you put the three words together. You are simply saying: "Praise you God" or as translated from the Hebrew Bible to the King James Bible "Praise Ye the Lord".

Thanks for your input. Thanks to you Mzjubilee2u. HALLELUJAH!

Be Blessed.
Very Good Sisters. It is Praise to OR you YAH. The Creators' name was in the Hebrew Scriptures over 6,000 times before it was replaced with unholy titles like Lord (Baal) and God (EL).Kumbaya = Come by here YAH. I am overjoyed to see your search for truth. For those that love YAH, we have a small group called The People of YAH. Join us on this path back to the Father, back to the truth.
Shalom Sisters,

Neh 9:5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

"I am (YHWH) Jehovah, that is my name..." Isaiah 42:8 ASV

fear of going against this religious ignorant, foolish "form" of behavior ....

FYI: there's no biblical president, scripture for this "highest form of Praise" ....
